The North Metropolitan Education Region is pleased to announce a retail program funded by the Youth Attainment and Transitions – National Partnership. This is a cross sectorial program open to all schools in the North Metro Region.
Retail Training – Pathway to Work
Training will be held at the Wanneroo SHS SSEP Building in Joondalup, cnr Shenton and McLarty Avenues.
We are seeking expressions of interest via an application form for up to 15 students from the 2012 year 11 cohort.
Interested students should complete the application form (all the details are on the form).
This program has a strong focus on workplace training and is being run in partnership with Directions and Priceline. The Certificate II in Retail will be contextualised to the Priceline environment. On successful completion, students may have the opportunity to continue on in a Certificate III Traineeship or gain full time employment with the host store.
Training is scheduled to commence in Term Two 2012 with an expected completion by the end of Term Three 2013 – this is to cater for the earlier completion time for Year 12s.
The institutional delivery will be on a Thursday in Joondalup – just a short stroll from the train station. Work placement details are outlined below.
Students who successfully complete the Retail Training – Pathway to Work program will obtain the nationally recognised SIR20207 Certificate II in Retail. They will also have the opportunity to complete the following online short courses:
- Service with a Smile
- Workplace Safety Certificate
- Revlon; and
This model is considered a pilot for 2012 and should it prove to be successful, we will run additional classes commencing Term 1 2013.
